What is Reiki
Reiki is pronounced 'rake-ie, it is a 200 year old healing technique based on ancient methods that harness our 'life force energy'.
Reiki is a hands on healing for self and others. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Chi which is "life force energy"
"So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided and chi, life force energy"
Reiki is a spiritual practice that supports life, its the universal life force energy, runs through all, people, trees, rocks/crystals.
Animals and the earth and solar system itself, for if we did not have this energy in and around us then all would cease to exist.
Many do not know we have this life force energy, but it is with us every day all day of our lives.
We are born with this energy, but becomes dormant so by being attuned with reiki brings it back to "life"
The Reiki history as such is not changing but the information we have about Reiki and it's founder Dr Mikao Usui is constantly moving forward.
Thanks to the work of Reiki Masters like Frank Arjava Petter, William L. Rand and many others we today get a more complete and factual information about Reiki.

The History of Reiki
This is a brief knowledge of how it came about. It starts with Dr. Mikao Usui was asked by some pupils how did Jesus heal.
Dr. Usui could not answer this question and he knew he needed to find how miracle of Jesus healings worked and how he instructed his apostles to also heal.
He went on many travels to study religion and teachings, after he had learnt many teachings and found answers he still did not know how to activate the energy.
He then one day decided to fast and meditate for 21 days, he chose to go to Mount Kyto.
As he would be unaware of time, he collected 21 stones which he used for each day.
On his last day he prayed for an answer to come. At this moment he saw a light coming towards him and truck him in the 3rd eye, 6th chakra centre of forehead.
"At this time he also saw millions of rainbow colored bubbles and in this he saw the reiki symbols"
As he saw the symbols he was given information about each once and its use in activating the healing energy. Reiki was then discovered.
He then started to come down the mountain and cut his toe, then he noticed that it had stopped bleeding and had healed, 1st miracle.
Having fasted for the 21 days he decided to have a big breakfast even though he was advised not to, ate it without any problems 2nd miracle.
The proprietor of where he had eaten had a grand-daughter who was in great pain, suffering with toothache and a swollen jaw.
Dr. Usui offered to help and put his hands on both sides of her face.
'The pain disappeared, 3rd miracle"
Later that day he help a abbot who was in great arthritic pain, again he laid hands on pain area and the pain went 4th miracle.
"So that’s how it all began…
"Reiki" with many origins…
Hands on healing has been around for many centuries and has been known in many cultures.
When you read about Reiki in books or on the Internet you will find several different theories about where Reiki came from…
The stars, Lemuria, Atlantis, Egypt, India, Tibet etc.

The 3 persons that play a vital role in the history of Reiki: Dr Mikao Usui, Dr Hayashi, and Mrs Hawayo Takata.
Mrs Takata bought to the west the hand positions consisting of 4 on the head, 4 on the front body, 4 on the back, adding knees and feet.
Although Reiki goes to where is needed (intelligent healing)
